  • Overview

    Research Assistant positions are available in Princeton University’s Department of Economics, beginning Summer 2020.

     

    We are looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to work as full-time research assistants for a period of at least one year. The positions will be based in the Economics Department at Princeton University and will entail close collaboration with Professors Buchholz, Ho, Kapor, and Kastl on new and ongoing projects in industrial organization.

     

    In addition to working closely with faculty, research assistants will have the opportunity to participate in the academic life of Princeton University, including the opportunity to take one graduate or undergraduate course per semester, attend seminars, and engage with graduate students and research assistants in the department.

     

    This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal for a second year. End date is dependent on start date, which may vary.

    Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate will have (i) a strong quantitative background, (ii) strong computer programming skills, (iii) the ability to work independently to solve problems, and (iv) a long- term interest in pursuing research in economics. Background in economics is a plus, but not necessary—we welcome candidates with strong technical backgrounds who are looking for more exposure to economics. We pay a competitive salary and provide standard benefits such as health insurance.

    Qualifications

    Minimum BA/BS degree in Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science or significant coursework in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, and/or programming.

     

    Excellent research and writing skills, basic knowledge of statistics/econometrics, knowledge of Matlab or Mathematics, knowledge of statistical programming, particularly Stata, Matlab, Python, and Julia.
