  • Overview

Research Assistant positions are available in Princeton University’s Department of Economics, beginning Summer 2020.

We are looking for highly skilled and motivated individuals to work as full-time research assistants for a period of at least one year. The positions will be based in the Economics Department at Princeton University and will entail close collaboration with Professors Buchholz, Ho, Kapor, and Kastl on new and ongoing projects in industrial organization.

In addition to working closely with faculty, research assistants will have the opportunity to participate in the academic life of Princeton University, including the opportunity to take one graduate or undergraduate course per semester, attend seminars, and engage with graduate students and research assistants in the department.

This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal for a second year. End date is dependent on start date, which may vary.

The ideal candidate will have (i) a strong quantitative background, (ii) strong computer programming skills, (iii) the ability to work independently to solve problems, and (iv) a long- term interest in pursuing research in economics. Background in economics is a plus, but not necessary—we welcome candidates with strong technical backgrounds who are looking for more exposure to economics. We pay a competitive salary and provide standard benefits such as health insurance.

We aim for a start date in August 2020, or earlier by mutual agreement. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis. To apply, please email the following materials to both Nick Buchholz (nbuchholz@princeton.edu) and Adam Kapor (akapor@princeton.edu), with the subject line “RA application: {last name}, {first name}”.

      3. your programming experience (experience with Python, Julia or Matlab is a plus)
      4. Names, email addresses and phone numbers for two references
      5. When you are available to begin work

Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Highly qualified applicants will be invited to complete a technical exercise and may be called for an interview.
