The laboratory of Profesor Edgar Choueiri in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering invites applicants for a new senior technical support staff position.  The laboratory is focused on plasma propulsion research, including support of experimental facility and associated equipment and diagnostics.


Appointment is for one year with the possibility of renewal pending satisfactory performance and continued funding.


Ability to diagnose and repair circuits, design simple hardware and undertake light machining tasks in the lab’s machine shop. Familiarity with plasma diagnostics, pulsed power, and operation and maintenance of vacuum equipment is an advantage but not a strict requirement. Tasks include supporting experiments, maintaining lab’s equipment and instruments, ordering material and equipment, and overseeing lab safety.


Working knowledge of data acquisition systems (e.g. Labview) and computer programming is a plus.  A degree in technical studies (mechanical or electrical) or equivalent experience (minimum of 5 years) in a research lab is the minimum requirement. A BS in mechanical or electrical engineering is a plus.
