Overview

The Tissue Morphodynamics Group, led by Professor Celeste Nelson, seeks a highly organized and enthusiastic Lab Manager for a full-time position at Princeton University. Our group investigates the physical forces and biochemical signaling that control the pattern and rate of development of branched organs. We are looking for someone with experience in lab maintenance, cell culture, qRT-PCR analysis, western blotting, and quantitative imaging. Our lab is highly multidisciplinary, collegial, and collaborative, and we encourage applications from individuals who are excited to learn and share their expertise with others. This position requires a candidate who is detail-oriented, well-organized, and possesses excellent time-management and communication skills. Strong record-keeping abilities are essential. The work performed by the successful candidate will be central to the core projects of the lab and will result in co-authorship on high-impact publications. This position provides opportunities for skill development and collaboration in a dynamic research environment.

 

This is a one-year full time, benefits eligible, appointment with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules
  • Working with Professor Nelson and coordinating activities with student researchers and other laboratory personnel
  • Training undergraduate student researchers and high school students (in summer lab learning program)
  • Assisting with laboratory daily operation, equipment maintainence and organizing supplies
  • Ordering supplies and equipment necessary for lab research duties, and unpacking and organizing delivered equipment and supplies
  • Performing related duties as assigned by faculty member and/or laboratory supervisor

 

Qualifications

Essential Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of related experience
  • Background and/or experience in lab maintenance
  • Prior experience working in a research environment
  • Experience in using molecular biology techniques, including PCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence staining, and imaging
  • Experience with cell culture
  • Exceptional record keeping, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with safety practices in an academic laboratory environment
