Overview

The Pritykin lab in the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics at Princeton University seeks applicants for a Research Specialist I / Research Specialist II. The rank and salary will be commensurate with experience. The lab studies mechanisms of gene expression regulation and systems immunology using computational biology, high-throughput genomics and CRISPR genome editing.

 

We seek a motivated and highly organized individual to contribute to large-scale functional genomic screens, cell and molecular biology experiments, and various support activities in the wet lab, including ordering equipment, supplies and reagents. In addition, this technician will be expected to contribute to research efforts and analysis of data. The ideal candidate is one who seeks professional development and is therefore interested in reading the current scientific literature and thinking critically about experimental design. The role has great potential for the advancement of skills in sought-after research technologies.

 

Salary will include the full benefits package. The position is available immediately. This is a one-year term position, with the possibility of renewal based on available funding and satisfactory performance. The work location for this position is in-person on campus at Princeton University.

Responsibilities

Specific duties include

  • Molecular biology, including DNA/RNA preparation, PCR, sgRNA cloning (individual- and library-scale), single-cell RNA-sequencing, and NGS library preparation.  
  • Cell biology, including tissue culture and flow cytometry.
  • Participation in research projects, including execution of well-controlled experiments and gathering of publication quality data. 
  • Lab organization, including equipment and supply purchasing, reagent management and inventory, communication and negotiation with vendors.

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology or related field.
  • Demonstrated skills in molecular and / or cell biology.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, clearly communicate ideas, and keep an organized and detailed laboratory notebook.
  • Ability to think critically and troubleshoot.
  • Ability to comprehend experimental work flow.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with CRISPR-Cas technologies and / or functional genomics is a plus.
  • Experience with sequencing-based data analysis and / or basic programming is a plus.

The final candidate will be required to pass a background check.
