A full-time Research Specialist position is available in the laboratory of Prof. Nathalie de Leon. The group focuses on building quantum technologies for sensing and information processing using multidisciplinary approaches to develop new devices and protocols, improve materials and surfaces, and design new experimental systems.
The main responsibilities of this Research Specialist position are to perform combined quantum spectroscopy and surface science experiments to improve the surface of diamond for nanoscale quantum sensing based on nitrogen vacancy centers in diamond. The core project is to operate, maintain, and improve a unique ultrahigh vaccum cluster tool for diamond surface science and confocal microscopy, and specific tasks will include measuring NV centers with different surface chemistries before and after in situ annealing. The Research Specialist will also have an opportunity to train graduate students and other junior scientists, and to develop their own research project and learn additional research techniques.
The position offers an excellent opportunity to participate in a dynamic research environment in an exciting fast-paced field of research. The work will be central to several major research projects, including collaborations with other groups at Princeton University, the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory, and other collaborators in industry and in other universities. This position will allow for professional advancement, skill development, and co-authorship on high-impact publications. This is a 1 year term position, with opportunity for renewal.
