Overview

The Center for Research on Child Wellbeing (CRCW) at Princeton University is seeking a Research Specialist II to provide data management and statistical programming for the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study (FFCWS). This position will have responsibilities for the continued development of metadata from the study, will provide data support and outreach upon release of data from the Year 15 wave, and undertake programming and survey development tasks in preparation for the Year 22 wave of data collection. 

This position will have a significant role in launching a new web-based application of study metadata. The application will allow researchers to access a large repository of data on FFCWS measures through our study website and an API.  The Research Specialist will help conduct user-testing, perform quality assurance, as well as code and construct new metadata for updated versions.

Responsibilities

In addition to this specific project, the Research Specialist II will have responsibilities in supporting the daily activities FFCWS, including general data support for researchers, outreach, and data analysis.  

The successful candidate will be a self-starter and able to manage projects independently. They will be able to thrive in a flexible work environment, and be committed to continued learning and training in areas such as data management and statistical analysis. Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, sociology, social work, economics, psychology or related field, with at least one to three years of work experience.
  • Significant experience managing and analyzing large datasets using Stata software.
  • Some experience with Python software is also required.
  • Experience with FFCWS data is preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications, including WORD, EXCEL, ACCESS and POWERPOINT.
  • Superior attention to detail and excellent writing skills.
