  • Overview

    The Economics Department seek 2 full-time research assistants in mid-late summer 2018-2019 (exact start and end dates are flexible). The research assistants will work with Professor Buchholz, Ho, Kapor, and Kastl on topics of industrial organization. In addition to working closely with faculty, research assistants will have the opportunity to participate in the academic life of Princeton University, including seminars, and engaging with graduate students and other research assistants in the department.

     

    This is a one-year term position with the possibility of renewal for a second year. End date is dependent on start date, which may vary.

    Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate will have (i) a strong quantitative background, (ii) strong computer programming skills, (iii) the ability to work independently to solve problems, and (iv) a long- term interest in pursuing research in economics. Background in economics is a plus, but not necessary—we welcome candidates with strong technical backgrounds who are looking for more exposure to economics.

     

    Responsibilities: Data processing and analysis of data sets, program and simulation of non-linear models, writing summaries of research, performing literature searches and reviews.

    5. Writing sample: Please limit to about five pages in length. This should demonstrate your academic writing skills. For example, a sample from an undergraduate thesis or term paper would work well.

    Qualifications

    Minimum BA/BS degree in Economics, Mathematics or Computer Science or significant coursework in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, and/or programming. Excellent research and writing skills, basic knowledge of statistics/econometrics, knowledge of Matlab or Mathematics, knowledge of statistical programming, particularly Stata, Matlab, Python, and Julia.
